Bought new arcade but it won't see my existing hd's profiles?

I have recently gone out and bought a new xbox 360 arcade from game. I used to have a really old one with a 20 gig hd and thought i'd be able to plug my hd into the new xbox and then just continue using my existing profile from there.

I turned the xbox on and it asked me to download some important security updates so I did. Then it asked me to sign in to an existing profile but on the list it has 3 profiles for some friends of mine at uni that where there before but the rest aren't showing up? my main profile won't show which is the biggest problem becuase all my save games etc are on this disk. I should have about 10 profiles on the hd. It worked fine the last time I used it on my 3rrod xbox. Any ideas? I've tried rebooting etc.. why would only some work and the rest not seems extremely strange to me.

You not have any on memory cards? I've known for profiles to go corrupt but not completely disappear.

Sorry yeah I didn't realise that. I've just checked the system settings and found all the profiles but majority are corrupted. What is the next step to delete the corrupted ones and redownload my live profile to the hd?

What about my girlfriends profile that is corrupted but it was never connected to live is that un-recoverable now?

Ok i've recoverd my profile from the internet and saved it to the memory card that came with the console. Seems like all my saves are intact on the hard disk. Thanks

yeah it was flashed but I was not banned online. It was a hd I had on my first xbox which got banned then I bought another 2nd hand one and used the hard disk on that fine till about a month ago wasn't banned but got rrod and couldn't repair the console. Now i've bought a new one becuase i've had enough rrod's lol
