Bad News Corrie's Blanche is seriously ill

    Corrie's Blanche is seriously ill

Blanche is known for her cutting comments

Coronation Street star Maggie Jones, best known for playing Blanche Hunt, is "seriously ill" after major surgery. It is not clear what sort of operation she has undergone, but a spokeswoman told BBC 5 Live Radio the 75-year-old has been written out for a while.
She did not give anymore details about the actress' condition, but did confirm that despite recent newspaper reports Jones has not ruptured her spleen.
"Everyone's wishing her a speedy recovery," the spokeswoman said.
"She's had an operation and obviously she's in her 70s. Our thoughts are with her.
"She's been written out of storylines for the time being, everyone's wishing her a speedy recovery."
Jones' character, Blanche, is best known for her cutting putdowns and frank comments.
She has appeared in the ITV soap as Deirdre's mother regularly since the late 1990s.

I don't watch Coronation Street, but I have seen her on it a few times and I have to say, she is a comic genius.

I think the clue is in the title!

Nobody is stopping you passing your opinion on this, but start a new thread in the TV talk section if thats your want, as Diablos did with the Steven Gately thread.

Bald Bouncer posted that rule change to prevent threads like this being pissed over with smartarse comments, just take them out of this section its not hard!

Probably not, and I for one couldn't give a fuck, but that's not to say we can piss on the rules.

If you want to laugh at her expense, post in the comedy club

Funny how every time something like this comes up we always get flooded by people telling us how much they don't watch it.

Funny how they all know about the goings on though.

The stench of bullshit is all overpowering.

What baffles me is why don't these soap actors or actresses ever retire.Look at emily bishop she must be in her 80's ffs. It's not as if Corrie is the pinacle of acting and you want to stay at the top.
Jim in Eastenders can't even fucking speak and he's back on the show now.

Take the money retire and live your remaining years relaxing spending the money you've earned.

The reason i watch soaps is because i'm married and although i'm not an avid fan by anymeans i don't mind some of them.

    1. It gives them a purpose in life.

    2. Jim is an inspiration to himself and fellow stroke victims.

Anyone can be suffer a stroke at any minute but it doesn't mean you have to just roll over and die or hide yourself away from the outside world. His character and the real life tragedy are being given a good platform of public awareness, which can only be a good thing in my view.

Should we be ashamed of our handicapped population and hide them away ?

Being a little older Nibb will be able to tell you that 30 odd years ago they were hidden away and confined to their homes. Thankfully now with the widely available access to motorised wheel chairs, confined people have found a whole new once lost freedom and independence and pride again.

1.If they're sad enough to make a fair amount of money and yet have nothing outside of work to give their lives a purpose then so be it.

    2.fair enough.

I never said he should be hidden away from public view because he had a stroke i know a few people who have had strokes in their forties and returned to work in time.My point is more that when you have a stroke in your seventies and your finacially comfortable enough why not just take that as a sign to jack in work.

But fair enough in their defence i've never had a job that i love so much that i want to carry on doing it until the day i die.
