Bad News Redundancy - Economic Climate

With talk all through 2009 about how things are bad for businesses and unemployment, thought I'd start a thread to actually look at redundancies as a result of the economic downturn. I've seen a few posts already but I'm sure there are more out there - I think we'd all be interested in seeing things from your perspective!

i have had my second "at risk" letter this year, i will find out in 3 week or less.

Why does "fat chance" and "slim chance" mean
    the same thing?

For the same job right? Our biz is due to send 5 risk letters out by December. It's very tough, I know them all fairly well.

Not specifically related to redundancy but a reflection of the economic strife....

Recently we advertised a fairly low payed junior IT support role at our office in Lancashire and usually get only local interest for this type of role. We got loads more applications than usual and a lot of them were VERY experienced. We had a couple of applicants came up from London telling us they'd be prepared to relocate! This was for an 11.5k job!

    Desperate times....
