Need a program to recover lost files

Somebody has deleted a load of files of my pc by accident (wife or kids)
googling around i cant seem to find the best one.

Can anyone recommend the best software from experience to recover deleted photos and general files please from a Hard drive.

ideally something i can leech for free

to start mate you should stop using the machine in case there overwritten
I think i used recover4all give me 5 mins to check me flash drive and i will tell you what it is for sure.

looked up recover4all i have used this before but R-Studio is on my flash stick, i got mine of usenet and they worked well for me before.
just pop the drive out and attach it to another machine to scan it, if one program doesnt work try the other.

I had an external drive fail not so long ago and tried maybe 5 or 6 different programs before 'Recover My Files' finally worked a treat for me. None of the others i tried could even find anything on the drive. Dunno how it would be for finding specific deleted files as i was using it to recover everything to another drive. I'm sure it has that option though...

Ive used a program called restoration for this.

I have used recover my files with great success in the past, but it let me down with the last HDD I tried to recover from.

PCI File recovery (free) ended up doing the job so that is my recommendation at present.
