Atube catcher or SUPER will both do this, for free.

Im probably just beign thick but i just tried to convert a saved avi video to mpeg 4 and selected the 'source' as the video i wnated to encode. I then tried to select the 'save to' to just a folder on my desktop but atube is having none of it and wont let me select that folder. infact it wont let me save it anywhere. The only thing i can select is the video itsself that i want to encode or anything else of the same file type. what am i doing wrong?

The "save to" field should be exactly the same as the source, am I right? If so, just change the extension to mp4. Or use SUPER, it's probably better
