Got a new Xbox Elite - Jasper What drive are in these?

Just got myself a elite with the jasper chip (power pack is 150w and 12.1 on the xbox). Looking around these seem to have Liteon drives in them, but it could be a couple of different ones. How do i know for sure which drive i have?

the only way to tell is get it open and have a look at the firmware revision

when was it manufactured mate? very new jaspers have a new variant of the 8 series liteon, and at present it cant be flashed.

well its pot luck then mate. it will most likely be an 83850c. some from august can be dumped , some can't. there is no way of distinguishing between the two, u just gotta try it.
looks like they have moved where they key is stored.

wouldnt bet on it mate. shitloads of these poppin up now. they have defo changed the f/w.
the one ive got was made in september,and the drive is august.if your drive is earlier than august you should be fine
keep us posted though.

Mine is a red elite built 12/1/2009 and it's a 7 series mate. Chances are it will be the same hopefully. Best to get it cracked open

Open it up and if the drive was manufactured in July you're ok,any from the middle of August will probably be one of the Liteon's that can't be done.I'd hold on either way as wave 4 game's will be hitting the street's and new firmware is required to get these to run without messing around with a activate disc.

What has really peed me off is the new xbox comes with no leads for 5.1 or HD. So for this to be their top of the range product and just have a crap red,yellow and white cable with no 5.1 on the end to match is disgusting.

Rubbish aint it! Instead of buying one of those dongles I hacked the crap out of my old component cable when i got my Panasonic Plasma last week so I could have 5.1 and HDMI .
