Advise Please

Hi guys,

I am going to South Africa in December to watch the cricket. I am looking to buy a camera but know nothing at all about them. I would like a compact ulta-zoom camera that will take good action shots as well as good shots of South Africa's delights (wildlife, table mountain etc.)

After doing a little research, the two that look like they are up to spec are the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ7 and the Canon PowerShot SX200 IS.

I have been seriously thinking about going for the latter solely for it's additional manual control's.

Does anyone have any experience of these two camera's or can anyone throw any other suggestions in to the mixing pot?

i can't give you any advice on those camera's but theres one thing that I learned. Go for a camera that has a propper view finder as the sun is really bright and you won't be able to see shit on a screen. The camera we took didn't have a view finder and a lot of the pics were ruined by not being able to see the scene properly especially when zoomed right in for widlife and sports shots.

Top location though and the right time of year to go there, say helo to the Cape doctor for me while your there

Went for a Panasonic Lumix DMC-F38 in the end!

I'll let you know how I get on with it...
