AMD everytime
1.2 thunderbird in this pc
1800xp in t'other one (me divx/tv cap machine)
my machines got AthlonXP 2400,
but I just built my dad a system(just for the net) got him an athlonXP 2000 for £49 sorry but you cant do better than that, whats the point of the duron nowadays?
got a AMD XP 2200+ xp in mine (cooled by a collermaster x-dream) hooked up to a chaintech zenith mobo.
running two 120 seagate barracuda's in mirrored raid mode (cant remember the excact mode)
a sound blaster audigy 2 platinum ex.
my trusty old yamaha CRW-F1 (just love putting piccies on my disks)
a 1x panasonic dvd-ram/-r writer.
but alas only 512mb 2700 ddr [with copper sync's attached to every chip] and a geforce 2 ti atm (although the G2 did only cost me £20about two years ago)
vw golf -2000 reg
1.9 GT TD PD, 150horses. engine creates the best pressure in the cylinder compared to every other car makers common-rail diesel engines.
this means VW's TDI PD engines deliver very high torque and effiency.
Best of two worlds.
I got a AMD XP2600 Computer system
and Pentium III 700HZ Laptop.
I have just upgraded to an XP Barton 2500+ an awsome chip
for the money £72, it overclocks v.well and is fast even
when run at normal speed of 1.83Ghz.
I have found heat not to be a problem's with the latest Copper based CPU coolers, not overclocked running at standard speeds
the CPU runs at 39 Degrees during normal operation, going up to
about 44 under high load.
I am using a GlobalWin Silent Fan copper based heatsink which
is very quiet!, coupled with Arctic Silver 3 thermal paste.
AMD still gets my vote more horse power, less dosh.
p4 2.4 ghz fsb 400mhz overclocked at 3.01 ghz with supplied fan running very cool about 30. fsb now at about 600mhz (5 system fans running aswell)
512 DDR 266
Gefore 4 440 64 MB DDR
Pionner 105 DVD-RW
Motherboard GA-1000PE
Benchmarked and out perfoms most systems AMD 2.8 to a p4 3.0ghz
had AMD for the last 3 years now changed to intel and would never go back very fast system worth the extra money

I left all my cpus in the greenhouse and it was clear to me that someone would nick em.
And thats what they did.
Unfortunately for them it was a plant
as i had sprayed em green
I caught them green fingered
So there plans went to pot .
If on the other hand i'd tempted them with Intel chips, they would have still been there in the morning.
Cos everyone knows that, like harmless people
Intel can,t make chips.
No seriously.
I have an Amd 1.2 T/Bird
an Xp1600
an xp1800
an xp2100 Pal
an xp2100 T/Bred
and last but not least an xp2600 @333
And the reason
I got all of these CPU's for the same price as 1
Intel Chip.
I had an Athlon Xp2000+ and have had it replaced twice and it still doesn't work. Every time I hook it up it fries the mobo and the processor.
In the end I stumped up the extra cash and bought a 2.26ghz P4 which is fantastic. I really didn't want to go AMD but was recommended it. After the experience I have had I am sticking with Intel from now on.
I am sure there are many AMD fans out there that would say that the Athlons are cheaper and faster but I am happy

I couldn't agree more! I've always had AMD chips...Originally posted by Violator
I'm an AMD man myself, faster & cheaper, what more could you ask? (well cooler too would be nice!!)
AMD 486dx2/66
AMD 486dx4/100
AMD K6-2 366
AMD K6-2 450
AMD Athlon XP 1800 Palomino
AMD Athlon XP 2200 Thoroughbred
They are absolutely fantastic... won't ever be changing.
At the moment, I run an Athlon XP T'Bred A 2200+ having just changed from a Palomino 1800+
I always hear people saying that AMD chips are unreliable, unstable, or plain stupid... but have they ever used AMD chips? Ok, so most of them have, but I have been to many peoples houses and seen their machines with cheap motherboards/RAM and power supplies... not surprising their systems don't work properly.
got to do this quick , so i will

hehe I upgraded to a 2500 barton last week, but pushed it a bit to hard.
I had it going at faster than a XP3200, at 45deg so I left it an hour encoding divx, came back and the mobo was fried lol, but the chip was fine.
I already voted on this poll, but can't remember when
Switched from Intel to AMD.
