maybe a daft question, ive just done a backup of my iphone 3G 3.01 with itunes 9, its found some apps but not the ones from installous (like logmein).

You need the AppSync patch (available from haculo.us repo)
Install, go into iTunes, right-click on your phone and hit Transfer Purchases.
