Default Ford Focus Water Pump Leak HELP

I've been told thatmy water pump is leaking on my 04 Focus TDCI and apparently the only way that you can get to sort this problem is by dropping the engine, do you think by putting some rad weld in the colling system that this would sort the problem.

Years ago I put this in a old astra as it had a leak and never had any problems for over three years with it.

Def worth a try as a starter but can cause problems, depends exactly where and how big the leak is and water pump is not the easiest thing to fix this way.

Focus engines don't like adittives like radweld. no need to 'drop' the engine at all, the only problem is the engine mount, this may require a jack support under the engine whilst its dismantled. I had mine done the same time as the timing belt even though nowt was wrong with it, just made sense as you dismantle the same bits to do both jobs.

Euro car parts do a compleat kit with waterpump timming belt and all pullies for the focus for about £90 or a lot cheaper if you can get trade discount.
Id definatly do the compleate job in one go and go for SKF make of kit they are the best

My tip, if/when you do get round to changing the pump, apply some liquid gasket type stuff (I personally prefer rtv) lightly on both sides of the gasket - that helps hold strangely shaped gaskets to the block while you manage to manoeuvre the water pump in place. Also it's never happened to me, but I would be extremely pissed off if I got everything back together to find a tiny dribble hence using rtv.
