As from this week, viewers of the amusing and sometimes strange videos of YouTube will be able to view them in full 1080p (1920 x 1080)resolution high definition quality, as well as the lower quality resolution 720p (1280 x 720 pixels).

This could mean that viewers will soon be able to see high quality clips and even feature length programmes and films, especially as Channel Four has recently signed a deal with YouTube to stream programmes through the service.

As for the ordinary YouTube user, they will still be limited to uploading videos that are a maximum of ten minutes in length, although it is likely that the 2 Gb size limit for videos will be expanded to cope with the HD quality.
