Is a online bank transfer safe?

Just wondered as I've advertised a few items elsewhere and someone offered to buy something, but they've only got a very low post count and initially said Paypal payment. I replied I unfortunately wouldn't take that as they are new. Not dissing new members in general but that's the way of the world sadly. I'm with Barclays, so if they did a BT, can it/could it be retracted?

I don't think so mate, as there were a few stories on the news recently about how people sent money to incorrect accounts and the banks said there was nothing they could do if the receiver didn't want to give the money back!

So in your case if you got the money you should be fine - plus nowadays they usually come through a lot quicker than the three days it used to take

if it's within 2 or 3 working days of the transfer being made you can probably do a BACS recall if your bank allow that sort of thing although with the new faster payments system that is rolling out pretty much everywhere now it's very difficult as the funds arrive in the receiving account the same day and when your bank try to claim them they are gone.

Tell them to go into the branch and put the cash into your account. That way you can blag to them that you will receive the money straight away and can send the item quicker and there is no way for them to get the money back if he's a scammer.
