Default Any carpet fitters in the house?

Am trying to save a few pennies by laying my own underlay and gripper rod before we have new carpets laid in the boys rooms. Just wondered if there were any carpet fitters lurking on DF that could advise me on what underlay to get. The rooms are on the first floor above the kitchen and dining room with t&g floor boards on them, if that helps? There's currently no underlay or rod on either room.

Have found this site through Ebay - http://www.abbey-carpets.co.uk and they seem tohave a few good offers / prices but not sure what's the best option to go with regarding thickness and quality of underlay.

    Cheers in advance.

I've always brought underlay from... http://www.tradepriced.co.uk/

The cloud 9 11mm is about £20 cheaper than your link

When I got underlay I got the treadair think it was 9mm, I only got that one because I got the carpets from carpetright and they raved about that underlay, I asked if it was the best one to get, they said yes, so I said fine I will buy it online, its about half the price. The salesperson wasnt impressed. Also gripper rods are quiet cheap at that tradepriced place.

    Hope it helps.

Oh and by the way Im not a fitter so I may be recommending treadair and a fitter may say its crap Its done a good enough job for me, I have heard cloud 9 is the best to get.

Cheers guys, Think I will go with the cloud9 stuff as it should hopefully provide some sound proofing too when the kids start to run riot in their rooms.
Am happy to spend the extra pennies on decent underlay when i fit it myself as the fitter would charge the same price per square metre but of a lower grade.
