Default Ford Focus Coolant and Thermostat Advice

52 1.8 Diesel Focus: Temp gauge up to the top, no heat from the heater, get up to about 60mph the car loses power, turn the ignition off the fan still spins for a few seconds.

Topped up the coolant, idled and the temp was ok but still no heater heat...

Went for a drive and absolutely no improvement so I am thinking that the thermostat is stuck closed...

So..think my diagnosis is ok and, if I get a local garage to do a coolant flush and replace the thermostat, how much it would cost?

    IT people slash forward.

Also, lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part....

Hows your oil looking mate? if its white/creamy looking then possibly could be headgasket. The car losing power is a worry. Otherwise could be the waterpump, thermostat or possibly the rad.
A thermostat shouldnt be no more than £50 depending of Fords prices and should be no more than an hours labour.

It's at the garage...it's the water pump....and as the cam-belt is the way they've warmed me that it's a potential £300+ repair....
