cracking software?

how is it done?
i have a piece of demo software, i want it cracking.
the software writer is a greedy, underhand git and i refuse to give him any of my hard earned - regardless of how good his software is.

i'd like to do it myself (greatest satisfaction)

could someone look at it and give me a clue as to what protection is used and where to learn the way round it?

(as you can tell, i am not a cracker or coder but i want to learn!!)

You might not even need to crack it..just set ur windows clock back a few days..

Haven`t got time to download and have a look at the mo mate, but if you can me more info on how its reistered I might be able to help.

What I mean is, do you get a code emailed (which unlocks full version) or do you get a new exe which is the full version (ie. The "trial" isn`t the full program (code) so cannot be cracked).

Hope that makes sense, and will have a look when I got time and dl it.

Just noticed this:
Enter the serial number from your dive computer (required for your key - changes available for free).

So looks like some kind of algorithm on the serial, should be doable if so.

tried that, it doesnt work.
it needs the serial number of my dive computer and must work out a code from that to unlock it

the program wouldn't start after I messed with em, lol..

clock changing ect no good as activation unlocks functionality..

away from my own pc now for xmas, but if anyone has a copy of ollydbg it'd prob be a simple crack

maybe md5 combo of username & activation date?? can't be arsed to count the digits lol

Forget about olly as the prog has antidebugging measures in it.

Not an expert but open up olly

go to 00529115 |. B8 E4915200 MOV EAX,Shearwat.005291E4 ; |ASCII "Dive data tranfer - additional informaton.|Data transfer succeeded.

I'm guessing at 00529115 it moves to 005291E4


So don't you just need to edit 00529115 and tell it not to do 005291E4, and continue processing as per normal
