Error playing divx

I have a banned 360 and i'm trying to play a video file off USB. I get error code 51-c00df236 and it says to download a file by connecting to Live. Obviously I can't do this.

Is there another way to get the file?

I'd guess so, the download is presumably a codec that gets installed to the HDD

I think you might be screwed if your on a banned 360 and didnt already have a silver account set u could sign in to and play your divx on that profile as I think when u do it that way the codec downloads and stays on your HDD so its there all the time whereas on a paid for gold account the codec gets downloaded everytime u go to play a film (or seems to anyway) which means u have to be signed in and connected to xbox live to watch a divx and use there codec, and now your banned u can do neither!
you could stream xvids etc using Tversity still -thats what I`ve been doing and then get your pc to to transcode the film instead of your xbox.

that doesnt work with any 360 that has the NXE update - and to be honest I dont know anyone who hasnt got that update -especially if they are banned from live

Im guessing that most of you are not on the xbox that you originally created your gamertag on - that is where your problem is.

The DivX update is registered to the console your Gamertag is registered to, the same way live arcade titles are. That why if you redownload your live arcade games to a new xbox then disconnect live it only shows them as trial games. You can get around this by filling out the microsoft DRM/content migration form thingy which moves all the licences to your new box - but as your box is banned thats not an option.

If you created your tag on 'Xbox A' then when you use to on Xbox B it checks, auto redownloads it and then as long as your signed into live is able to verify that you have downloaded it and have it 'signed' else where and lets you continue.

If the box is banned or just not connected to live, then although the DivX update is still on the console, its unable to verify it and asks you to redownload.

When ever I get a new xbox I always make a new silver account (usually called 'MediaAccount' or similar) that way if my internet goes down/box gets banned etc I can still watch all my DivX content.

Hope that makes sense but ultimately is of no help because it means your fucked for the moment

Nah because the box needs to be connected to live - its not lost because of the ban like the hard drive installs, its because of no live connection so even if you did amend the nand the box still wouldnt be connecting to live for the verification.

your banned boxes will still work as media centre extenders and you can watch divx that way without the codec if you can be arsed
