    Default multimedia interface help

jeez i didnt even know what to put in the title, if you think of owt better after reading this then feel free to change it.

Ok, i have used a laptop as my music centre for th last 4 or 5 years, just plugged it into my amp and used it as a sort of jukebox. I have been that happy with it that i chucked all the other seperate decks away.

Now then its getting a little old and i now have a 2 year old laptop that i want to use to replace it with, my question is..can you get any software that will jazz up the function of the laptop as i have just used a standard xp desktop with winamp up until now and wondered if there is a better user interfaced sofware that would suit this job.

    cheers.

There is lots of SW out there that can do the job. I use winamp all the time and SAM for the radio streaming. Have a look for Virtual DJ also ive seen it and looks ok

have you tried windows media center, I thing it does quiet a good job, especially under windows 7.
If you have an iphone you can also use it as a type of remote control for media center 7/xbmc so you dont even need to look at the laptop screen.

Why not install windows 7, alternatively I should have a couple of genuine copies of XP Media Center edition laying around, If you want one let me know and I'll dig them up and stick one in the post for you, (you will need to get it registered though, you can always try doing over the phone and saying thats the only machine its on). They are not running on any machines at the moment.

Would a vista home premium (comes with media center) help? Again you will need to blag ms into getting the serial to work. Its not currently used on any machines however they do specify that if the serial is used even in error they will not activate on another machine. But I have read of people activating windows 7 by phone on several machines saying its the only machine.
