Default wpa password list? or list of hex numbers

    for research purposes of course.

trying to access a wlan protected by wpa, okay with everything as far as acquiring the handshake with bt3, just for the final stage can anyone recommend or give a link to a good password list?

alternately i was thinking, the router is a Cisco EPC 2425, by default it uses a hex wpa code (i believe, not sure ), would it be easier to have a password list of hex numbers?

currently at work so restricted internets.

Not that up to speed on this these days, but I would say a password/word list may not be fruitful as a lot of ppl (in the know, so to speak) would use alpha-numeric passwords.

Also the only way a list of hex numbers would be of use would be if they covered every possible combination. Which in effect is just what a brute force attack would do.

    Just my 2p

is brute force equivalent not the only way to get a wpa / wpa2 password

for testing purposes the router is in default configuration, so if i knew what bit encryption was used i could just use a sequential list of hex number, still alot of possibilities, may take time as i dont have my supercomputer to hand.

    cheers anywho.

WPA1 is now hackable in a simular way to WEP is hacked. As far as I know WPA2 is only hackable using dictionary / word list attack.

Do you know what level WPA is being used

    its just wpa, not wpa2.

not sure on the specific wpa though.

    -- EDIT

just looking it up there, would it have to be wpa-tkip to bypass the same way as wep?

what you need to do is a brute force on a small list.

You can generate a list of passwords using crunch or other dict creator,

you already know the password length and the characters used

im assuming 64bit hex key, so 16 character 0-9 a-f combinations, looking to take some time to generate the list, feck it, this is why i always get discouraged.
