    Question Super simple Usenet app?

I am in the process of throwing a media center together (windows 7) and like the look of xbmc.

Anyway, I would like to greatly simplyfy the process of downloading usenet TV/Movies. Ideally i would just like to click on a RSS NZB link and have a really simple GUI interface download it and auto unrar... and just show minimum info (like just a progress bar).

However, I cannot find any program/process that I would classify as super simple. XBMC doesn't seem to have a plugin that is directly up to the job. Even when I go for seperate apps they seem too detailed (i.e. Newsbin pro or Grabbit etc). SABnzbd comes close but the web interface does quite cut it.

Is there really no way of downloading usenet stuff with a really simple interface like XBMC itself?

Grabit is simple but ugly. You could use sabnzbd with a web interface to keep tabs on progress and what have you. You could also use Greasemonkey to integrate sab with newzbin.

Altbinz is what I use at the moment.....it aint simple but once you set up the usenet server and associate nzb files with it its just a case of click on the nzb file and it opens automatically.

I find altbinz a bit hit and miss with auto-unraring!

i always manually quickpar check / repair and manually unrar anyways.

im finding that lots of my recent d/ls have bad blocks when they shouldnt. if i red/l the same damaged rars from the same source they are intact. any ideas?

I need to move onto sabnzb... Grabit is just not doing it anymore! Sometimes it will not connect and 99% of the time it does not unrar the files.....

For long enough people have recommended sabnzb, it is just the setting up which looks a little tricky.

I don't think Sabnzb can be beaten. Once you have the set up done (especillay the newzbin config) just bookmark the file in newzbin sabnzb downloads it, unrars it, deletes any rubbish and puts it in the correct folder in the media centre.

The only time I have had this is when bad RARs have been uploaded. Check comments on Newzbin to see if anyone else has the same problem.

that cant be the case as if i download the same file it is often complete. odd.

i suspect grabit is not helping.

Right SABnzbd all set up, actually very easy to do. I have also added a watch folder for new downloads I grab and an RSS search for new episodes of shows I want
It also emails me to tell me it is done and ready! I am trying out the 0.5.0 Beta 6 version so that it is compatible with nzbsrus

For it looking tricky, yes it does but if you follow the quick start guides it is actually a piece of piss! I just set it all up from work over VNC
Looking into it further, I think I can trigger off downloads from any PC in the home
Now time to renew my newzbin account.

bad ram can cause this, even if the machine works perfectly fine for everything else.

I trigger mine from anywhere I can browse to newzbin. Sabnzb checks for anything bookmarked and auto downloads every 15 minutes.

I've got to say, I really not liking SABNZBD. Its an arse to work with. I am not sure if its just a Windows 7 thing but if you close the Web session by accident you have kill the exe in taskmanager before you can restart!

I have since stumbled across SPEARNZB which I really like and has the super simple interface I was looking for. http://www.spearnzb.com/ The only problem is that its £20 for the full version (hint, hint, hint anyone?)
