so thinking of getting away for a week, somewhere in the UK.
got 2 small kids (3 and 1.5) so would need to be ideal for them
we don't drink if that matters, can drive anywhere.
anytime before 31st March 2010
any ideas?

What type of holiday do you like?
Noisy kids clubs type or lots of walks and beaches etc.
I love Anglessey to be honest but its not really busy. There are loads of places to go on the island like the RSPB outpost at South Stack and the beaches at Benllech and Newborough are great for kids.
Cornwall is great aswell. Places I personally love are Looe and Bude. There is a lot more to do at Looe ie boat trips, loads of pubs, beach and its a beautiful location. There are loads of sites around the area which are nice, some with kids clubs etc.
The only thing with these places is they are more weather dependent and lots of the tourist spots are closed this time of year.
Thanks mate, some decent info there, il take a look
not sure what type we would like, i think this time its more for the kids to enjoy, they are only young once lol
Get on a canal? But may not be suitable for children so young.
how about haven?? i know a somebody that's got there own caravan there (marton mere), bit close to you i know but might be able to get you a good deal
i take a look mate, cheers!
I can recommend Center Parcs (Whinfell Forest - Lake District). We had a great time there, loads of things to do.
I think price is approx £229.00 from Mon to Fri.
Have a look here mate.
You're around the corner from me aren't you so it's just over an hours drive...ish
eating out, is it reasonable priced?
just looking into it now,
eating out there can be expensive, imo your a captive audience, but kitchen in accommodation very good so take plenty of frozen stuff and some of the lodges have BBQs also advise to take coals and some "paper logs" for the fire if you so wish
Porthmadog is very nice in particular Greenacres Caravan Site we go every year usually with the Sun holidays gorgeous part of the world and lots of good free outdoor fun to be had...
The Lakes is a great holiday, i was going to suggest one we've just stayed at too....

its beautiful, a real home away from home, all the mod cons, wild rabbits in your garden, its awesome.
Centreparcs is your best bet if you can afford it. As MrO says, the cabins are very well equipped (Whinfell has just been renovated) and extremely comfortable. The indoor water park is free and we end up spending at least half the time there. The rest of the activities are charged for but as your kids are very young you wont be doing any of the expensive ones so it should keep costs down. You can book all the activities in advance and create a week planner as such online.
Plenty to do with the kids that doesnt cost (woodland walks where you almost always see squirrels for example). Top tip, take or hire bikes and a trailor buggy thingy for the kids to sit in.
The food is a little more than you'd pay for normally but not extortionate. Plenty of variety (2 pubs with good food, the cafe in the sports arena, indian, chinese, italian, cafe in the bowling alley, etc).
You will not be disappointed.
I go once a year usually and tend to go for the Executive Lodges as they are a cut above but to be honest if you're not going to miss a dishwasher, DVD player and sauna, the comfort lodges are fine.

Center Parcs (Whinfell Forest - Lake District)
this is not far from penrith, so you can get good food at a good price, it is also not to far from keswick so you can take a day trip out if you wish, one for the other half http://www.gretnagateway.com/ is arround a 30 min drive, so you are not tide to the park if you deside to venture out.
20 mins down the road you will come accross carlisle, tullie house http://www.tulliehouse.co.uk/ (depending on the time of year) have acitivitys for kids, and just accross the road http://www.english-heritage.org.uk/s...show/nav.13665 Carlisle castle, worth a look, depending on the kids age,

spot on guys, thanks for the info, got a lot of reading to do!
that wild animal park is awesome. You get so much closer to the animals than any other i've been to, I got roared at by a lion when i was 2 foot away. It made my ribs rattle!!
and we got to experience some giraffe porn!
Try Seasons if you want to get out and about a bit.
