    Default Image editing software?

Spent about three hours trying everything to get Photoshop CS4 working on my Mac and I'm giving up.

Can anyone recommend a decent piece of software for image editing?

    Thanks

For dead basic editing you cant go much wrong with Picasa3.

Get yourself Aperture for the Mac.... It's Apple's equivalent of Photoshop

Downloaded and installed Aperture and didn't like it at all. To much involvement with image organization and features I didn't want to use.

So I downloaded Photoshop CS3, got that installed and cracked with no problems.

    Thanks, Chris.

No, Aperture wanted to make collections and albums of my images and pick album styles - that isn't what I wanted.

Photoshop allows me to open photos manually, and gives me a wide range of editing features that I'm familiar with.

    Thanks anyways.

I was just being sarcastic Chris.

Cant understand why PhotoShop CS4 for MAC would take 3 hours to setup TBH.
Are you trying to install the full Adobe Creative Suite 4 package? That takes FOREVER!

Just install Photoshop. That's what I did. Works a treat.

    Cool.

I got CS4 as a standalone app from NZBMatrix and when installing I got the License Expired message, tried removing all and re-doing it with Little Snitch enabled, and then adding all the Adobe servers to the hosts list - drove me daft.

Looking at the comments on the torrents and newsgroups it looks like I wasn't alone, but I'm sure I had it running on my iMac earlier on in the year.

Fitted a new HDD today and had to do a clean install - so I had a look and found CS3 with a crack and that worked a treat.

I had exactly the same problem with Cs 4 on my macbook, couldn't get rid of the license expired message, even after turning on little snitch, and changing the local host file. I gave it up as a bad job after about 3 days of trying.

Don't suppose you still ave te nzb for CS3 by any chance?

    thanks

I am at work so can only be a bit sketchy with my explanation....

    Here goes...!

You can get rid of the license expired message by rolling back the clock 12 months and then via the help menu you can click deauthorize then you can put the clock back to present day and reopen PS then give it a new key and re-register it.....!

    BUT...

When you close and reopen it you have to do the same thing again.

    SO.....

Install just PS4 then browse the web for PS4 hack or activation [K], this is the bit i cannot help out with from here..... The [K] bit is important.

This will activate the PS4 install and all will be well.

Also remember that you can download PS4 from adobe you do not need to get it from a hacked copy, get the full install from the adobe site then update it fully then use the [k] downloaded file to activate it without any of the host file editing balls.....

PS Little snitch is always a good idea as well...!!!

Cheers for the offer Chris (K+) but it really was that easy to get sorted.

Try lightroom though going forward, it is CS4 cut down but great for organizing and doing bulk work. This is the competition for Aperture mentioned before.

I made the choice between Aperture and Lightroom and went with Adobe because if god forbid i ever go back to PC i do not have to learn again because Lightroom and CS4 are cross platform.

I'll download that and give it a shot. I'm not into photography or looking for anything too advanced - but I like to make slight adjustments to raw photos from the camera and have something good for making little changes to photos.

Never understand why people will passover the Gimp in favour of downloading and installing a hooky version of Photoshop.
Most people will never need to use 90% of the features in Photoshop, and free software like The Gimp will be more than sufficient for their needs.
    It also opens .psd files!
