    Poll Swine Vaccine (H1N1) Yes/No ?

    Peeps

On a serious note my little one has been invited to have the Swine Flu vaccine, having read a few horror stories about the vaccine and about children who didn't would you let your little one it?

my missus had it when she was pregnant and it has done no harm. The little un is protected for a few months and i have no worries about him having it again.

    Haven't voted cos I don't have kids.

Officially, the vaccine is safe, but parents really are in a bit of a predicament these days. You can get the vaccine and have your kid get a side effect and feel guilty, or not get the vaccine and feel guilty when they get swine flu.

The complete bullshit around the MMR jab has a lot to answer for really. That was just made up and perpetrated by idiots and has been totally exposed now, but leaves people suspicious of everything.

If it ever goes as far as vaccinating healthy men in their 20s (I doubt it will tbh, it seems to have fizzled out) then my personal decision will be to have the vaccine, if I can be arsed. Mass mistakes in medicine are very very rare, and there is a lot more chance of getting ill from avoiding medicine than there is of being the next thalidomide victim imo.

If I did have a child of the relevant age and therefore cared enough about this to research it, I'd be looking for statistics on the real affects of the virus and statistics on the real affect of the vaccine on kids of the relevant age. Whichever does the least harm (educated guess: the helpful vaccine is safer than the deadly virus) would be the one for me. The argument that we don't yet know the future effects is null because we don't yet know the future effects of having and recovering from the virus.

    I had to vote no.

I have spoken to four different doctors that have all told me it is safe. When I asked them if they had children, they all did, and would/will they be giving it to their child three answered no and one declined to answer.

That made my mind up better than any government statistic.

What if your child dies from Swine Flu and you didnt take the option.

IMO you cant take that risk...especially if they are in the high risk groups.

The vaccine is as safe as the seasonal flu jab!

I've spoken to a number of Dr's as well and concur with your findings, however my GP has said that his children will have the jab???

We shouldn't be protecting the weakest genes of the species. We're corrupting God's plan with this witchcraft.

How many children/babies have died from Swine Flu, as opposed to say, choking on a chicken nugget? I suspect the latter is more of a risk, but will you stop your kids eating chicken nuggets?

Are you fucking nuts? Over 100,000 people a year die from the side effects of pharmaceutical drugs in the US alone. That number is also on the increase as more and more of us are persuaded to take unnecessary drugs for minor chronic ailments.

Putting your trust in the medical establishment and even worse, pharmaceutical companies, is a mistake.

Neither of my two are young enough, one of my stepkids is too old, and the other one is 5 in two months and too old, which leaves 1 of them. I don't see the point, I really don't. If there was a major problem with Swine Flu then maybe, but come on, its just another example of mass hysteria.

For the record all the kids had their MMR. Anyone who looked into it at all (and trust me, the ex Mrs BBK did, oh boy did she ever) would have realised the link with autism was really tenuous in the first place.

Going slightly off topic i can see what CJ is saying as for years i was taking omperzol for reflux until the middle of 2009 when i thought i would try stop taking them as i had lost over 3 stone in weight due to changing what i eat and going to the gym, The result is i haven't taken one for 6 month with the added bonus i don't get headaches like i used to every other day.

Thats a perfect example. Reflux is easily treated through diet and lifestyle. Taking medication for reflux or related symptoms such as acid indigestion usually results in a reduction of digestive enzymes being produced by the body. This in turn negatively affects the nutritional value of the food you eat.

Making a few changes to the diet can negate the need for both medication and horrible shit like rennies and gaviscon. Just adding a few more leafy green vegetables which are alkaline forming and reducing or removing some animal proteins, such as meat, dairy etc. which are very acid forming, can help a lot.

I'm in the same place as you on this one, I have 2 kids under 4 and have been "invited" to "let them have it".

I'm trying to persuade the Mrs not to let them have it for the simple reason that the body's immune system needs to develop and having all these injections isn't going to help it. If the worst did happen then there is always tammy flu, but I'm reluctant to give my kids something which hasn't been fully tested for long term effects (which it can't have been seeing as Swine flu only cropped up a little over year ago)
