Default I've had enough of Win7 going back to Vista x64

I installed Win7 x64 about a month ago now, I sorted all drivers for mobo graphics card etc so that my device manager would be happy.
My system consists of a quite old AMD dual core Opteron 2,39ghz with 4gig of DDR ram, Nvidea Geforce 9600GT graphics card. Everything worked sweet under Vista X64, mutitasking no prob, playing 1080p movies again no prob.
Now with Win7 I cant do 2 tasks at once for eg. Downloading with newsleecher 20mps will not allow me to multitask, unraring large files the same thing the whole system slows down, i cant play 1080p movies without stutter. I have Malwarebytes and Windows antivirus installed. i have done all the usual stuff like scan for viruses and malware and do the usual sysem clean. As far as I am concerned Win7 is a piece of shit at the moment, I see loads of other users suffereing the same problems as me on the Windows 7 forum.
Luckily I imaged my Vistax64 image I think I will go back to it today unless anyone can suggest anything I can do.

    Thanks

personally I found Vista x64 a lot better and a lot more stable than XP, yes XP uses a lot less resources but I have never had a problem with Vista. Also Vista x64 is more comatable with 32 bit apps than XP x64
I just wish Windows 7 lived up to its promise, it seems to be hit and miss for different users

Isn't that one of the earlier beta or rc releases ? (or possibly a typo !)

I'm running the 64bit version on 3 different machines and it runs like a dream compared to vista, and i'd rather run it than xp now as well

I'd guess that it's more likely a hardware problem. I had an issue with one of my machines running Win 7 and it turned out the memory was fried and needed replacing

Have you tried disabling the on access scanner for windows antivirus? I had similar issues as you until I disabled that. I don't have a problem with other av software just the windows one.

Win7 64 bit works a dream on my setup. I even disabled the swapfile and hiberfil.sys as i dont really need them (12 gig total usage). The pc has slightly improved in performance as a result of this but still i wouldn`t go back to XP. Also Vista wont run firebird for the DJ Radio station but win7 64 does. I have installed win7 32bit ultimate on all the other PCs in the home, including the Lappy. The kids pc is only a pentium 4 with 1.5gig of memory but it still runs alot better than the Xp that was on it originally

I'm running the retail 32bit of win 7 on 2 machines so far and it works really well, definately prefer it to vista, the laptop seems to run so much better and smoother with this over vista.

hardware seems ok, as Vista worked perfectly before, I also disable the realtime antivirus but same again. Can the build of Win7 be updated without doing a fresh instal?l as thats all that seems left to do

    thanks

i just to switched to win 7 64 (from rc 32) and quite frankly ive never been able to do so much seamless multi tasking.
1080p no sweat, newsleecher always running and biggest test of all is mkv2vob transcoding 1080p with subtitles - never been quicker and it doesnt hog my system.
something must be wrong with your install or a virus or something mate.

I have no issues either with retail 7 64 bit. Run Newsleecher downloading at 21 mbs and auto unrarring while having Photoshop CS4 and Lightroom 2.5 and it will also run live TV via Windows Media Centre at the same time. My system ain't that new either.

I downloaded a copy of windows 7 (the releaase candidate) and i had problems with slow down but then i got the retail one and it worked fine. Having said that vista worked great for me and the only reason i'm using 7 and not vista is that i read 7 is better for solid state drives. To be honest if your happy with vista and it runs well then i would stick with it because 7 (unless vista ran badly for you) does not have many big advantages.

Oh and rc should be able to be updated from the auto updates but only a fresh instal fixed my problems hope that helps
