its only a fukkin 1.2ghz athlon i aint goin gonna go and buy a heatsink and fan that costs as much as the processor and rated for an xp2200! got one rated for a 1.4ghz athlon surely thats good enuff but no 77degrees still!!!! fukking computers!

to be honest i dont know how hot it would go, as i have the bios setup to shutdown the system at 60 degrees, i do know tho that athlons shouldnt go over 95 degrees or the chip will **** up

i ran mine for a little bit with no fan on! only the heatsink and again still fukking 77degC

lemaru, i got the exact same board and im running a 1.2Ghz duron.
Just to let you know that when ive had Temp proggys running only one senor worked on it!!!
And i have run my system for about 5months no probs

the only prog i could get to do anything was MBM5 tho all the rest said nothing or stupid values like -128!
only temperature that changes seems to be the ambient one! was that the same for u mate?? altho the fan speeds report correctly (or so it looks)

lemaru, to get mine to cool down m8 i use these 3 in conjunction with each other, it seems to work ok, but i know i shouldnt have to do anything like run cpu cooler progs, as my 1700+ XP i took out ran ok.

try them 3 progs i just mentioned guys and see what happens, id be interested to know if it brings your temp down

tried cpuidle and still 77degrees
did u try all 3 at the same time m8, if i just run 1 of them on its own i get nothing, the temp dont go down untill i run ALL 3 at the same time

rain aint got an option for an athlon only goes to k6 k6-2!
besides that windows nt, 2000 or xp shouldnt need a cooling program from wot i was reading up on!
been running them all now for 10mins and still no budging from 77degC
wot a bummer, its weird that tho that it just stuck on 77, something should be able to bring it down

if freezer spray that can cool to -50 doesnt bring it down nowt will!

Is it possible that you have a faultly thermistor and the 77 is not a true reading - how hot does the Heast sink get ? too hot to touch ? 77 will burn you so watch out when testing if you havent already. My CPU Althon 1800+ was running at 64 until I changed the case. The new case has the CPU fan next to the fan at the back of the case (not the PSU one) and it runs at about 53 now - also I put some Arctic silver on it which helps.

the heatsink only feels warm to the touch not hot! should have been more carful when feeling it tho as i clipped the fan with my finger and broke one of the fins off!
Put my old crappy fan back on for now had to buy a new one
