Default Dell Precision T7400 Internal Speaker

Last week I "found" an unneeded internal speaker in a precision t3400 (had audigy x-fi upgrade). I removed this and have just tried to fit it to my precision t7400 (no audigy). Speaker slotted in nicely, plug fitted the socket labelled INT_SPEAKER under the cpu/memory ducting perfectly, and it even makes a tiny clicking noise when I connect it, but if I have no speakers/headphones plugged in either front or back socket, windows 7 just says no audio device plugged in and won't play anything.

Anyone got any ideas - doubt dell will support my system as I'm not the original owner and I'm fitting a part that came from a different model, and t7400 isn't on list of supported win 7 devices.

Internal speaker will only be of use to the system Bios.
It will beep at post and beep any error codes if something goes wrong.
It would need to be connected to the soundcard for Windows to use but would sound terrible as its an internal speaker.

Sorry if I'm not clear, the precision range of pc's have a normal speaker on the motherboard, but you can specify an option (I think around £10-20) to get an internal speaker which will play output from soundcard (but badly as you said).

if its not being picked up in windows would say its not connected correctly or round the wrong way as it should be picked up within windows.

PM the service tag of each system will check the speakers make sure its compatible to be swapped over.

Dell will be able to help you if you can comfim the original owner you can also transfer it over to your name HERE
