    Default Selective Colour

    Been messing around taking shots of the kids today trying to get used to my battery grip with a hand that is still only halfway healed. Quite liked this opne myself. What do you lot think?



    Taken with the 24-105 with IS switched off.

    Exposure: 0.005 sec (1/200)
    Aperture: f/4.0
    Focal Length: 55 mm
    ISO Speed: 100
    Exposure Bias: 0 EV
    Flash: On, Fired

    Copied the apple to another layer, black and whited the other layer, fiddled with the saturation of the colour layer and then flattened it.

    I like the shot and the effect a lot, the apple looks great. But the cushions in the foreground are very off putting and drag my eye away from the subject.

    Shooting at 1/200 with flash makes use of it pointless. No need for IS if the focal length is less than the shutter speed unless you have the DTs.

    I think it works well Bert. I'd be in agreement with Mike that nmaybe a tighter crop would remove some of the cushions causing a distraction.

    Can't crop out the cushions really as I would crop some of her out but may have a fuck about in PS with them to darken them down a bit.

    The second one is still fantastic, without the selective colour it just becomes a different type of shot, very nice both of them Bert.

    good use of selective colour, suits the pic, i would crop just below the elbow though, a nice pic none the less
