mouse wont work after update installation

Ive just updated my PC last night with the windows updates that i was meant to install . i know i should of looked the updates up in Google before installing them but like a t*t i never.....
When i restarted my PC the mouse wouldn't work at all and i went to do a restore and it had been turned off , i am now using a wireless mouse but i would prefer to go back to the original mouse and fix the problem
If anyone has any info that they could give me i would be really grateful

ps2 or usb mouse?

can you provide a screen-shot of device manager with the mouse plugged in.

It's a ps2 mouse
i really dont want to plug the mouse back in just yet because sometimes it also stops my keyboard from working when its plugged in...

i looked on device manager last night when i first tried to get it up and running using my keyboard (whilst the mouse was plugged in) and i tried a scan for new hardware but it never picked it up....
i also looked in the mouse settings and under the hardware section it was blank !!

for some strange reason my mouse is working now !!!!

all ive done is uninstall AVG antivirus and install AVAST , don't know how i fixed it but im not too bothered aslong as its fixed
