have you tried a different usb slot perhaps at the back of the pc on a different set of slots?

I had this problem with one of my old enclosures. I take it you are connecting via USB and not Ethernet yet.

I'm following the instruction on the install cd, which tells me to connect it via ethernet first

are you connecting it to your network ?? it was setup for DHCP when i packed it up, also make sure the power switch is in on position and not auto

If you are using windows 7 you will need the new software

Re-applying the same Firmware using LSUpdater.exe

You can put the Windows firmware updater by adding the section below to the LSUpdater.ini
    [SpecialFlags] Debug=1

Restart LSUpdater.exe, rightclick the icon on the top left of the tool bar and select 'Debug'
See this YouTube- Enable debugmode on buffalo`s lsupdater.exe

The same version of the Firmware can then be applied by ticking 'Do not check version' and 'Force update' in the resulting screen.

    Download it from here

the drive is fine I have been using it for a year..

I suspect in my attempts to remove my personal data and restore the system to defaults, left it in this state..

I think the default share just need recreating via the web interface just put the ip address in you web browser and you should beable to find you way around.

Failing that I could do a remote control session tonight and sort it for you..
