    Default Laptop BIOS password help

    Dell Latitude CP M233ST
    Servicetag DPGVC

Anybody know of anyone who can remove these cheaply or preferably for free?
Tried Dell, they can't transfer ownership into my name.
    BTW, it's not hot.

Cheers lads and lasses, there's a pint in it for whoever can sort it.

You can get Latitude.exe from here:

    http://flyingpigs.dyndns.org/fp/latitude/

It locked up my machine from win98, but booted from a DOS prompt and it works happily.

You can also removed the Dell BIOS password if you have a 24LC eeprom programmer.

I actually used this method once to remove the master password from a Dell Lat C800.
(The EEprom was a surface mount 24lc02 located just behind the floppy on the topside of the main PCB)
Took a hex copy 1st, then simply erased the eeprom with zero's.
    - It lost the lot, Password, Asset & Serice Tag!
(You can then simply use ASSET.EXE to restore the original service tag)

Anyway, hope you have some success.

    Also attaching it just incase:

You can get ASSET.COM (sorry not exe) from dell's website.
(The newest version seems to cover most dell system i.e. from laptop to pc!)

    Try here:
    http://support.euro.dell.com/uk/en/filelib/index.asp

or a direct download from here:
    ftp://ftp.us.dell.com/utility/ASSETA00.EXE

    There is an undocumented switch...
asset /s ...... will change service tag
asset /s /d (delete service tag - says it works but doesn't! Always comes back with somthing like unable to change)

Also attached a couple of different versions....
