Private Mobile Radio (i think) but as Gtosser says Cb shouldn't be used for taxi's anyway, and if you do you always run the risk of fools.

    foul language, music, mic keyers

if i remember correctly. you can acutually be heavy fined. you must have a licence.....pmr can usually be hired or bought on ebay etc. the best bet would prob be to get in touch with the d.t.i.
i thinks ive got a few pmrs here. but might try to convert them.
why not set up a new post asking for info. its worth a try

    Let me get this right...
You actually use CB Radio to book taxis ?
Hmmmm So when your contoller says they want a taxi at xxx addy
any old crook can listen in and go round and do the house over.
Remind me NOT to use your taxi service.

To be honest m8, most crooks own scanners these days so they know if the cops are on their arse, so it would be quite easy to listen to taxi's pmr or cb, so really there isn't much difference.

    Default squelch

although you should not be using cb .If you must there used to be sold a unit that only opened the squelch when signal with the right tone was sent ,Almost like your own channel (dont know if anyone still does them but if you must use cb this would help

CTCSS Continuous Tone Coded Squelch System (CTCSS) is a subaudible- tone- signaling system sometimes called "PL" (Motorola’s trademark for "Private Line"). A set of 38 standard tones has been established to restrict access to radios on a particular frequency, thus avoiding co-channel interference. If your radio is equipped for CTCSS, you can restrict your reception to only those units you want to hear. When other signals appear on that frequency, your squelch will remain closed.

I have never fitted on to a CB radio, but it should be possible, i think there used to be kits for CB radio.

This is the sort of thing HERE

I cant imagine anything more unreliable than using CB for business use let alone the legalities of it. It must be a prety duff taxi firm. I suppose all the drivers are insured and pay their income tax too!!!!!!!

It dosn't say in the licence that you can't. But what it does say is

"Remember CB can be an aid to business as well as an entertaining and useful hobby, help others to enjoy it as much as you do."
