try putting a new spark plug in it
last year a couple of my AY's started to slow down after 10 mins or so of riding, we found that the exhaust was clogged, we took the pipe off and poked welding wire around inside it and they have been fine ever since.
using good quality 2 stroke oil will prevent this from happening in the first place
can't agree more, with my two strokes they ended up having nothing but the best oil for them, it made a massive difference for them...not like an instant fix but when they were bad this was like life juice sometimes (had very flunctuating money when I was younger , had to get what I could afford, £6 max petrol fills helped tho!. )Originally Posted by tiggerbiker

i only use mobil now for all my 2 smokes - ive had my fill of repairing bikes run on comma 2 stroke oil (seemed like a bargain at £3.99 for 5 ltrs)
anyway back in my day, all smokers were run on castrol R, were talking yamaha RD350 ypvs and RD500 and in the later years the RG250 then the KR1S - oh the sharp rasping cackle of the arrow pipes on a cold morning and the smell of the exhaust then the insane powerband kicks you in the back of the head ohhhhh how i love those bikes - then i bought a GPZ750 turbo, i've never been quite the same since.....
cheers for the help i will try them when i get a chance.
If the silencer is blocked you may have to remove it and pore some caustic soda down it and let it soak a while (after plugging one end)
clean your air filter too...
