    Help Laptop overheating

Ive got a laptop off me mate to try and fix, Packardbell Easynote MIT-LYN08.
its overheating, ive taken the cpu/heatsink fan off and tested it. its working fine but does not turn on at all when the laptop is running, just a brief spin at bootup on, ive had the pc running all sorts to try and get it going but it just switches off after a few minutes.
is there a heat sensor somewhere that may have broken? would it be ok to wire the fan up so its always on?
    cheers

There's possibly a thermal sensor under the cpu, looks a little like a ceramic capacitor. Take the cpu out and check if one's there. It may need bending up slightly as sometimes they lose contact with the underside of cpu. You could wire up the fan always on, but it's annoying tbh, but ok for a last resort.
