Corrected minor spelling mistakes
Anyway, you don't say what ATi card you're referring to? The 9700? the 8500? what?
If it's the 9700 against the GF4 it's down to your wallet basically. If money is no object then go for the 9700, or wait a couple of months and see what the NV30 is like.
A Radeon 9700 Pro will sing in that system. ATI have come along way in the last year...I'd seriously reccomend the r9700.
I am very happy with my Geforce4

I've got 1gb of RAM too
Its all about the money - £300+ quid will always buy the the best thing on the market - today that is ATI, by christmas - who knows maybe Nvidia will be top dog again - its make no difference. If all the cards were the same price then there would be a clear winner but as there not I vote Geforce 4, also Nvidia seem to give a shit about its customers and release drivers that work and regular updates - cannot say the same thing about ATI.
cheers

the nv30 (Geforce5) will use a 128bit Memory Interface. This means that a overclocked ATI Radeon 9700 Pro will outpower the new nVidia card as the r300 chipset uses 256bit.
I think you'll find you're wrong there. All the specs I've seen on the NV30 show a 256bit Interface, nVidia would be foolish to launch a top-range card with a 128bit Interface.Originally posted by Spike_UK

Also, there's a lot more to how the card performs than just the memory. The problem that the 9700 has is that it's very CPU limited. And it's likely the NV30 will be too, but I'd bet it's still faster than the 9700. And since it'll be on the .13 process (9700 is on .15) it should clock better.
It should also be using DDR2 . I think this CineFX should be interesting too.
Thanks boys for the help i still can not make my mind up but you have hepyed
