    Default Memory - PC100 or PC133?

This is probably common knowledge and basic information to you lot, but I am not certain which is better.

I am getting some new SDRAM for my PC and don't know whether to get PC100 or PC133. I imagine one is faster than the other but am not sure which.

    Can anyone enlighten me?

    Thanks,
    Magic Dave

Do you know what you currently have? Do you know if your board will take PC133 ram?

If it will then go for the PC133

133 will throttle down to 100 anyway and is probably cheaper due to volumes produced so go for 133

the number is the bus speed it runs at. 133 is better but if ur motherboard doesnt support it it is probably not worth the extra money.

however if jonf is correct about prices then get the faster one regardless of if ur motherboard supports it (the higher speed) or not.

Generally, PC133 is cheaper, but due to the more basic design of some of the cheaper modules, they won't run on a lot of PC100 boards. You can get 256 of PC133 for around £20, but PC100 will cost about £30. I've found the newer PC133 modules sold cheaply to be incompatible with the PC100 only boards.

    have a look here.

You select the make and model of your motherboard and it will show you all the memory that is compatible.

i have used them loads of times and i know there not the cheapest but at least you know the memory will work.
