    Default PC Backup

Hi... someone recommended Powerquest Drive Image as a good app to back up my hard to CDR's. I'm gonna do a clean reinstall and just wanna back up my downloads/programs...(about 40gig).

i just downloaded a demo and once i get a crack will try it out.

Anyone use this app or have any advice for me? thanxs ppl

very good app well worth the purchase thinks its like 20 quid or so

will make a complete image of your hard drive

and will reinstall everything in say 10 mins avg back to the point it was backed up

eg an image of windows os with office
    complete reinstall 5-6 mins

i suggest that u do a fresh install

install your most used programs then image the drive

    Thxs for that Mav

The prob i have @ the moment is that my comp is full of shit that i've downloaded and it's slowed down a lot of it...i've run a few apps to clean up the reg as well as uninstall the shite gathering up.

But i really want to do a clean install as you say. I understand that once backed up i can go back and select which directory/files i want restored. Most of the progs i have are like most ppl downloads/craked progs and the original downloads are saved.
i have discs of Win me and Office and luckily all my mp3 are saved on a second 13gig h/d which i can remove or leave.

so after i have done a clean install it's better to do a fresh backup of this state of the hard drive? hmm better get a spindle!!!

    @loafer316
When you do a clean install you should do a backup image before installing any other programs, after each program is working OK do another image and replace the old one, you would be better off copying all your data and mp3's to CD before you start, also disconnect your 2nd hard drive befroe you format your C: drive you can reconnect it later

I've downloaded the demo version...and from what i can see you can back up on to cdr/rw and ask it to split up the archive to fit in to cdr's.

just got to look for a crack or somthin...plus it seems i can't ask this prog to backup certain folders it just does the whole c:\ drive. It compresses about 32gb to 16gb i think @ high compression.

Norton ghost will split the backup image file over multiple cdr's m8, it also uses compression, here is a guide on how to use it.
