CB to Telephone conversion

Hi M8s,

A while back it was all the rage to convert FM CB Transcievers to the 10 Mtr ham band. With the analogue telephones working on 31 Mgs I was wondering if it was a big job to convert a Radio to tune into the phones.
Anyone got any ideas on this. Has it been done? Is it difficult ?

I have come accross some old am/fm sets that will tune upto 31mhz quite easily namely the ham puma, and major 120 etc with the correct xtals
I did it once with an old Chaser 5000 am set (fitted fm mode board first) it worked ok'ish, but very unreliable, it's not really all that difficult it's just getting the VCO to lock is a nightmare.

I thought of it the way you described but, being 4 Mgs away a new Crystal and retune. Would it be enough cos the Sensitivity would probably be down. Also the channel spacing is wrong.
Does'nt seem to be much feedback, so may-be not so easy.
Thought it might be an easy and cheap way to listen to the neighbours.

I'll stick to my yupi instead.
