Default WinXP won't recognise Hercules Fortissimo III

    Hello

I just bought a Hercules Gamesurround Fortissimo III Soundcard
I Install it just as it ist statet in the Manual
However WinXP just finds an "Unknown Audio Component"
When I install the Drivers included on the Hercules CD it installs all sorts of components and drivers
however the main Audio Card ist still Unknown

When I want to install the drivers manually and search for them with the "Add Hardware". Windows tells me that they aren't valid Drivers.

Help please...I tried everything I could think of however without luck
Does somebody have this card ? When you installed it what did Windows detect ?

    System:
    XP 1800+
    256 DDR Ram Kingston
    Asus A7V266
    Hercules GeForce 2 GTS
    Gamesound Fortissimo III
    Logitech MX300 Mouse

Does your mobo have onboard audio? If so, try disabling that before putting in the new card.

Hercules just released new drivers yesterday
It seems that they work now
Windows still detects an Audio Component that it can't identifiy
    however the sound works perfectly

WTF were u drunk or something when u wrote that, dude?
LMAO fuck, I should put that in my signature!

anyways, you say you've got the Asus A7V266, those could come with the optional C-media built in sound. I know you say you don't have built in audio but maybe u should make sure. I got an old (2001) Asus board with a C-media audio chip and WinXP detects it as an unkows multimedia device or something. If you find out that u do have built in sound, disable it using a jumber and you'll be fine.
