Default Got a XBox with low audio level, can it be fixed?

I've just been givin a XBox. It has a problem, the sound level is VERY low, on my sound system, the audio has to be turned up to 20db just to hear the audio from any game. The previous owner had opened up the system, so im thinking that he might have done something, maybe damaged something when he touched the main board.
Anyone got any ideas how it might be fixed?

If the fix involves soldering, don't give it to your friend (http://www.isonews.com/forums/showth...threadid=90637).

Have the same problem when my ps2 is powered up and on my split SCART connection together with the xbox. When I turn of the ps2 the sound level is ok on the xbox.
