Default Liverpool 1-1 Against the mighty FC Basle Your views

Although unlucky in the first half Liverpool were well held / contained in the second and a fair result at the end of the day.

Owen Struggled to controll the ball Fat Arse ( Bruno ) tried his bullying tactics and the Long ball didn't come off tonight.

Should have been 4-0 up at half-time and conceded a very soft goal.

Just a shame that Man Utd won, by there performance last night in the second half they deserved to draw, or lose at the least.

Liverpool should have been home and dry by half time but they fuked it up big time. Now with back to back games against Spartak, they need 6 points from those games ideally.

come guys the champions league is not something a club conquers on its 1st or 2nd try these days

look at arsenal and manu they had to be in it at least twice before they made it past the group stage.

all the so called euro minows are still better than 1/3 of the teams in the prem and we are too arrogent to realise it

    2nd round

I still think Liverpool will make it to the second round and maybe go to the knockout stage. 10 points should be enough.

    Good post.

Liverpool have been playing really well, but we have been unlucky and also lacking the cutting edge. As soon as Owen starts firing again we will be a much stronger team to be reconed with.. But I was gutted last night.

    Expectancy.

Thats the problem with Owen, everyone expects him to provide the goals. What about Diouf? Baros has done what has been required. Owen is taking the flack and I feel Diouf should be getting a little critisism too. £10 million and only two goals? African footballer of the year? That does not say much for African football. The front line needs sorting and sorting soon because with no attack it will soon be a case of having nothing to defend! 4 international strikers and 8 goals, 4 of those from a 20 year old who was told last tear he was too fat! Houlier should get tough on Owen and Diouf instead of wrapping them in cotton wool then we will see results.

100th European game at Anfield and held by a team that only just scrapped past Celtic.

From watching Spartak though, you should get at least 4 if not all 6 points. Having said that, I would have expected all 3 to the pool last night.

Heskey's the problem. Yes he can hold the ball up and play as a target man, like Ruud and Shearer; can't say the same about goals though.

Ruud:: 7 goals in last 12 games - can't wait till he rides this dip and hits some good form

lads....get some perspective on the game.....

all involved with football know that sometimes yuo just get games like that - we hit the woodworkk 4 times, and had numerous other good efforts daved by a keeper that had the 'Game of his life' that night.

its a shame for us because we SHOULD have finished it - BUT thats the way football goes.......we still played well and looked easily the better team. you guys that have posted that we were held by Balse or some other crap clearly dont know what the **** you are talking about.

i aint too pleased with our situation in the group - but at the end of the day, we can still qualify with a little effort. dont be mistaken and write us off....

we was in a worse position in the second round phase last year.

maybe owen can't play a part because of your new tactic.... to play attacking football!!

ok you may be a bit shite at the old attacking play but at least its a step in the right direction!

with the usual 10 men defend crap BOTH teams are in your half and owen out terrorising their last defender!

then a sneaky gerrard or riise ball punted up and owen breaks..... blinding pace and nobody can catch him!!

    in it goes!!

now he needs to be a complete player..... maybe even taking the ball up himself with giggs style dribbling! or keano/scholes style tackling or even PROVIDE service to others like ruud's started doing!

just shows how he doesn't fit the new liverpool mould!!

baros is like a duck in water when it comes to complete attacking play!

maybe owens got lazy and limited on a skills front!

maybe he should follow the VASTLY BETTER striker Fowler out of the anfield door!

all questions to be asked when you can loose 2 fine points due to feeble underperforming players!!!

letting the rest of the team down on what was otherwise an OK performance from the scousers!

There is no doubt that Liverpool should of had control of the scoreline like they had in the game at half time.

But Basel (to be fair) they took there one off opertunity well and were able to frustrate liverpool once they had fully setteled in to the game by keeping the ball well even though they didn't realy make many chances in the second half.

the classic tale of one team takeing there chance and the other should of but didn't take enough of theres.

Baros was a bit of a lively charater who was'nt scared to shoot at all.
