    Default Sony Z1

a long time ago I bought a Sony Z1 phone (brand new), it worked fine for a few months but one day it just wont dial out (doesn't find network) almost as if I was out of coverage area , but in my area the coverage is excellent (%100 sure cause all other phones work %100 of the time). But all the phone functions are working as long as I don't dial?.

In other words when I took the SIM card and inserted it into other brand phones it works , and when I take my friends SIM cards and put them in the Sony Z1 they don't work (for dial-out) just like my own, thus it is not a SIM problem.

Now I am sure I did not drop or mishandle that phone.

But could it be that some one is playing a joke on me..? they sent me an SMS virus perhaps?
I have never heard of a virus for Sony Z1?

But today it occurred to me may be some idiot with a similar phone called my SIM provider and reported my own IMEI number STOLEN or something and had them block it from the network.????

    Is this even possible ??????!!!!!!!!

Am I entitled to compensation because my phone was basically rendered useless due to their mistake!

And how can I verify this scenario with out calling the provider (because their customer non-service people are really a pain in the arse)

In other words can I change my IMEI number just to test if this is the problem?

yes you can change the imei if you want to spend 2years with buggernin bubba for a friend.
read the manual and check that you haven't set out going call barring.
does the phone display the network logo with full reception?
do you mean a sony z7(the one with the orange screen and silver flip)?

As far as I'm aware it's only Orange that block the phones.

Does "SIMCARD REGISTRATION FAILED" display on the screen ? If not then the phone will not be blocked.

Nothing like that.. it just says no network found

the network is configured properly like in the manual
I even tried a factory reset but that didn't work either
