    Does 'BeachSpikers' Rock?

I'm after a decent multiplayer game, and this looked like the ticket.. (Incidently, I didn't like Smash Bros, but loved Monkey Ball)

Just read the Edge review which gave it a 6/10, which I guess means it's not that bad, but I'd like some other peoples opinions before I splash the cash..

Not played it multiplayer, but single player, the appeal is limited. I bought it a couple of weeks ago and not really played it that much. Controls are a little over-simplistic for my liking and lets face it, 2 players per team, it's hardly going to last you forever in single player is it?

Multiplayer may be something different, i'll force some buddies to play it at weekend if we're not too drunk and let you know

they can't make the controls too complex, you're going to be playing it with 1 hand

Owned it a while but only played it single player (I have no friends).

To me it has the same appeal as a beat-em-up.

    Let me explain:

    1) As with a beat-em-up you can use infinite continues to complete any challenge you want but whilst doing so you get better all the time.
    2) After a while you start to press your button to skip through all the post point-scoring/match winning shenanigans (but you miss out on the atmosphere by doing so).
    3) You complete it over and over again to unlock new characters.
    4) It should really be played against other people to get the most out of it. I imagine 4 player would be a riot.

In short - Single player = OK for practice.
Multiplayer = the reason it exists.

Make your own mind up from that.

    Hi Guys,

    Thanks for the tips..

I bought it yesterday after checking your replies.

First impressions from me? Nice.. I started playing in two player mode with my mate, which was probably the best way to pick up the controls, then got another couple of mates round with extra controllers, and, oh my god! Couldn't put the goddamn thing down for the rest of the night.. I'm absolutely hanging this morning <yawn>

Like you say, I doubt it's worth playing in one player..

Ahh.. finally something to compete at after you and the mates roll in from the pub!

p.s: how hard (I mean risky) is the blocking defence by the way?

    Laterhausen,

    Funk.
