Xbox Drive in a PC

Has anyone written a tutorial on how to format an Xbox drive on a PC (now there's a nice shiny new 80Gb in y XBox

)- 8 Gb would be handy for my kid's PC...

Any help appreciated

Yes m8 there is one been written to do just that, here ya go, its taken from xbox scene, and the hard drive unlocker it says to download, you can get it from here m8

How To Use Original Xbox Hdd In Your Pc (v0.1)
Tutorial written by : GTac01

First of all dl the hdd unlocker here.

Then connect your original hdd to your xbox, using Evox2, get your hdd password.
Once you have it, It looks like this:

00:00:00:00:00:00:00:00

rewrite it as followed:

0123456789ABCDEF0123456789ABCDEF01234567

Yeah delete the last zeroes, and print it out, ull need it.

Now you have to boot DOS (Bootdisk).

Go here for a bootdisk that works with Win98-WinXp.

Once downloaded execute it, enter a Floppy disk in ur computer.
it will make that disk a boot disk.

Then add the files: hdunlock.exe, hdunlock.pas, hddisabl.exe, and hdddisabl.pas to the bootdisk just created.

Now, turn off your computer, set your xbox hdd to SLAVE, install your xbox hdd in your computer.

Turn on your computer with bootdisk inserted, and it will ask you to press a key, then press a key, and you are in A:\>

Type in hdunlock and press enter
Select your xbox hdd, and enter your hdd password

it should say DONE

Type in hddisabl
Select oyur xbox hdd, and enter your xbox hdd password

it should say DONE.

Congratulations you have unlocked your xbox hdd for formatting.

Simple way to format it in WinXP:

Now boot to windows
enter "MMC" in RUN
File-->Add/Remove Snap-in
Click on ADD
New window appears double click on Disk Management
New window, click finish
Click on OK
Click on Disk Management(LOCAL)
then right click on disk 1 and select the first option
now right click on the right box next to the Disk 1 Box
Then click on format, and format it the way you want it, select your partition letter and your ready to go.

I presume formating one to put in the x-box is totally different though ??

there is a new tool out that does all the work for you m8, it prepares it all to put in your xbox, i havent tried i tho

here is what it does

EvolutionX New HD Setup ISO - v1.2

What does this cd allow me to do ?

Install a new (blank) HardDrive into your XBOX and using this cd it will prepare, format, and install the EvolutionX DashBoard, MS Dashboard, and DVDX 2.
This will leave your XBOX ready for use.

Also has support for flashing your Onboard Bios to Evox2.4 (Donot use if you donot know what you are doing)

I havent tried it but Ive got it

If you can think of a way of me getting it to you then pm me (4mb), i cant email it as i use yahoo (1.5m upload limit) but i dont mind upping it somewhere.
