Default DVD-R Drive wont recognise CD-R Media

My Pioneer A03 (1.90 Firmware) will not recognise any of my backups of games and programs. When i insert a CD it just spins as if it reading it but then stops, and in "My Computer" it just says its size is "0 Bytes". Anyone know how to fix this problem? Im running Windows XP Pro, and it worked fine on my system the other day with Win XP, but ive just rebuilt the system and installed the new Win XP Service Pack 1.

    Thanks for any help.

Have you tried installing the latest firmware for the drive?. Windows 2000 stops recognising my CD Drive after around 5 reinstalls and I have to flash the firmware.
