    DVD-R or DVD+R

I know that DVD-R is the format of choice for Xbox purposes - does DVD+R work as well?

yes. DVD+R is compatible with more hardware than DVD-R but the media is more expensive

I've been using my Ricoh DVD+R/RW drive to backup games/movies and to burn homebrew and game compilations. I've had no problems at all. Works great with the xbox.

DVD+RW is particularly useful when burning game compilations. I'm able to quickly burn up a disk at 2.4x speed, try it out burn again until I'm happy with the disc, before commiting to DVD+R. I hear the Pioneer A04/104 only writes DVD-RW at 1x?

    I have used

    DVD+RW media

    Verbatim
    Memorex

    DVD+R media

    Memorex

With no problems and no Mod Chip.

    XBOX loves +r +rw media

It is the one to get and it is faster.

A local shop to me is taking pre orders for it at £233 inc which I think is very reasonable as the A04 is only just sub £200.

They are very good and pretty cheap for most things - check out the Lite-on 40x

Ideal for me as no P&P charges.

What does this not do (Sony DVD-RW/+RW Dual Format DRU500A)

Will it backup all regions of films (incl. 5.1) and my Xbox games?

    Cheers
