Hi
I have seen the diagrams for the posistions of the the individual wires, is it just a case of cutting the cable and then splicing the wires together, could someone let me know if I'm on the right track........
cheers..............

Try the following for a fairly detailed guide:

This is the one I followed, but it will be much more difficult if you don't have a crimper. Unless you are planning to make several cables, buying a ready-made crossover cable may well be cheaper than buying the crimper.
cool guide m8 nice and easy to follow
and yep the cables are not that expensive anyway, or you could get a crossover plug to go on the end of a normal cable, this is just like a phone adapter but turns a normal cable into a crossover, i got one from the computer fair and the guy said it would work, i was a bit dubious till i got home and it worked just fine.
