Cast Confirmed for Three Simpsons Films
But that doesn't mean the show's ending anytime soon.

Will there ever actually be a Simpsons feature film? Series creator Matt Groening has been teasing fans for the past year or so with the idea, but no firm plans to make a movie have ever been announced.

Until, now, it seems. CHUD dug up this report from the Vancouver Film Festival, where Simpsons executive producer Al Jean happened to be in attendance. Jean apparently told a room full of people that the principal cast of the show had all signed on for no less than three motion pictures. The comment got an immediate positive reaction from those present, as can be imagined.

Jean emphasized that there is still no solid timeline for the project. The show is in its fourteenth year with no signs of slowing down, and the writers are having enough trouble as it is filling a 22-minute episode these days. [That explains some of the more bizarre ones I've seen lately.] The producers are also anxious that the films be quality, movie-worthy material, and not something slapped together to make a few box office bucks.

That said, a six-man writing team (including Jean himself) are on the job, working on the script of the first Simpsons movie.

It's also worth remembering Groening's recent comments that if and when a film is made, it will probably done concurrent to the television series, rather than waiting for the show to end.

For more news from Springfield, stay tuned. Thank you, come again!
