HTC Desire - Available for pre order

Had this for 4 days now. Really enjoying how responsive the phone is, browser good. Google talk works great. Battery life looks like a charge a day kind of phone, but there is already an extended battery out so will keep an eye out.

Have installed voice to text feature, and voice search. Both work well, voice search probably the more useful. Also installed the Nexus home screen which I think I prefer still testing. Still to test are media capabilities.

shame they cant make it a wee bit smaller the evo is a big phone but a great phone ,it should be here by the end of year ,but prob only in 3g ,

It was mentioned on the previous page with a fair example of what will probably happen.

It's not good PR for them to release a device which is 4G capable when the UK cellular infrastructure is creaking at the seams carrying just 3G traffic. Like I said it raises too many awkward questions for the mobile providers, it's easy for a sale assistant in a Vodafone shop to blag an answer to that question, "4G it's being trialled" "it's out in 6 months" "my boss is testing it" blah blah blah. But as a business customer, if Vodafone were sat with me in a quarterly review and were showing off their new handsets for the upcoming quarter, I'd have a lot of awkward short sharp questions for them in terms of them not being able to support 3G customers fully and now they are offering 4G devices and haven't even finished trialing 4G, or have a roadmap for deploying 4G, how much investment is 4G getting, whats the strategy...that's the way my line of questioning would be going.

You will be able to buy it from overseas and take advantage of the higher spec camera and the lucious 720p screen but we all know what HTC are like for bringing out new handsets and we'll more than likely see a watered down version of it which will be minus the 4G capability.

The desire is coming out on o2 on the 29th of April for anyone else thinking of upgrading. I've got till 20th of May for my upgrade so i'll wait it out for an o2 contract opposed to the t-mobile one. No pricing details as of yet.

I wonder if Sprint shares it's IMEI database with UK providers the same way T-Mobile/Orange/O2/Virgin/3/Vodafone do over here?

If not, how much would it take to persuade you to do an insurance job
