Pinnacle Video Editing Kit

i dont know if this is in the right section if its now move it

i have a lap top and i want to get a video edating card since i have a laptop it all has to be external, i have been tould that pinnacle are the bast, and it is what they use at my uni, what i need to know is do pinnacle do a external card that uses fire ware or USB but i know that will be very slow :-(

there a product called sparkle ( or dazzle ) that i think is usb have a search around for one of those to see what there like

USB wont that be slow and crap qualty

not really if it compresses to mpeg 1 in real time then the transfer rate is only 175k a second and usb 1 is 10 mbit ( about 1 mbyte a second ) but if mpeg 2 is your goal then i think it would struggle but i havn't used one so i couldn't say for sure that is why i said do a search and see what other people think of them
