Whenever I do a /list command in mirc (v6.03) I get about 10 channels listed then the server disconnects - every time. Can anybody shed any light on it or offer a solution? Thanks in advance

A lot of chatrooms disable commands like that and auto kick/ban for the use of those commands.
I use this now

and edit the .ini files to add the channels I want to use.

I don't type it in the channel window, it's when I connect to list what channels are available. It seems to work ok on DALNET, just seems to be EFNET where I'm getting the problem.
Just as a side issue, why do some channels kick or ban for typing these commands? I'm new to all this IRC stuff BTW.
Some people just don't like the extra crap showing up in their channel windows and get stressed about it, suppose all it does is ram home the point a little quicker when you get kicked each time you make a mistake.
Have you tried a different EFNet server? Sounds like you've picked a dodgy one.
Hav you tried Demon's in the UK? efnet.demon.co.uk
Sounds like the servers just too busy if you're getting kicked for listing the channels - I'd try another server.
Some channels kick/bad for using list as it can overload and crash the bots and reset their queues and downloads.

Yeah aidan m8 I usually select Demon or the other UK one (the one that says carrier) although it does it on any of the EFNET servers. Just can't seem to fathom it out, as I say all the others I've tried all list the channels, just EFNET that doesn't
