    Default NewsBinPro Alternative

    Evening All,

I have just discovered newsgroups after years of *issing around with P2P,
and now enjoying speeds of 7Meg on my 8Meg line.
What I'm after is a free alternative (if possible) to NewsBinPro as I am coming to the end of my free trial.
So if anyone has any Recomendations - Cheers

    Currently Using:-
    AstraWeb (£12 for 180GB)
    NewsBinPro Trial
    Merlins Portal

    Regards

SabNZBPlus is awesome (and free!). Can't really be arsed to explain it but should be pretty self explanatory.....

id change onto the astraweb unlimited for £12ish (theres a link on here somewhere) and personally I like grabit, its free just the same as satnzb but its not as hands off, it still does the repairing and the extracting but not the automated downloads (unless theres been a bit of an update that ive not got)

edit I got it wrong its not £12 its $11 a month, this is the link to the unlimited astraweb deal http://www.news.astraweb.com/specials/kleverig-11.html

Thankyou for your replies I will download them this afternoon and give them a try.
    SabNZBPlus,grabit,altbinz,cr4cked newsbin pro

Casio, that $11 looks a really good deal, but unfortunately I'm with TalkTalk and can't get unlimited yet just a max of 80 GB a month. But once i can get unlimited I'll be signing up for sure.
Can't believe I *issed around for so long with utorrent and shit like that. When I was testing newsbin I downloaded 40GB in just over 2 days

    Cheers

Sabnzb here as well. Used to use Grabit but I really needed to schedule my downloads as Virgin are really strict with their throttling. Also the way sabnzb runs is really good. Its just a service rather than a program that you have to start and the RSS feeds to auto download your fav TV shows works really well.

Some people don't like the web front end but TBH it works that well you never need to check it.

sabnzbd here. It's ace. Got a web based interface, add in your RSS feed from your chosen website and setup matches like :

    Lost*720p*

and it automatically downloads them for you. Like having TiVo only free(er)

even if you have an 80gb cap from your isp, you're paying £12 for the 180gb. if you go with the unlimited plan you get free ssl, unlimited downloads (ready for you in the future) and you'd only be paying $11 (about £7.50)

To those that are using NewsLeecher, have you bought it or are you using a cracked version?

I'm running v3.9 Beta 5 which is generally ok and a step up from GrabIT which I used to use. But it can be a little flakey, some of the auto repair / extract / cleanup stuff doesn't work automatically and a few other little bugs are probably resolved in a later release but I've never come across any later versions on my travels.

I am tempted to move to something free which is regularly updated, possibly Sabnzb as that seems to be a favourite around here but it's having the time to play to be honest.

Are any of the Sabnzb fans ex-NewsLeechers users?

Also, whilst we are on the subject of Usenet, is anyone doing their downloads over SSL either for free or via a subscription server?

Another one who bought NBpro here. No hassle with new versions/cracks all updates are free and it just keeps getting better.

I bought Newsbin Pro years back and it was easily the best thing I had ever used for Newsgroup downloading, but ever since finding SabNZBd+ a few years back I haven't used anything else, it's so configurable, automatic, light weight and free, wouldn't consoder anything else these days.
